They call me Pinky Gonzales.
It’s what happens when you run away to Europe with a Latin disco punk band for three months. But that’s a story for another time.
In any case, having an unusual name has given me a unique view of what is often referred to as a “personal brand,” and that foundation has served in some interesting ways over the course of my career in marketing. I have been very fortunate to have worked with some of the biggest entertainers and most iconic companies of our time, including Hershey’s, LinkedIn, Taylor Swift, Kanye West, and of all things, the Statue of Liberty. I may be a classic jack of all trades, but I make up for it with an obsession for communication and education in all of their many forms.
I am thrilled to be joining the Netrush team as the Director of Marketing Services. My job is to help identify, develop, and connect our entire suite of marketing and media production abilities with partner needs and opportunities. That’s an exciting prospect when you’re in the business of helping customers find and connect with great brands online, and it’s an honor to be joining the team at such a pivotal time for the industry.
It’s hard to remember a world without the convenience and ubiquity of Amazon.com, but if you’ve spent any time inside the halls of a consumer products company lately, concern about the retail giant’s impact on brand value and industry relationships is palpable.
But there is a difference between concern that leads to inaction or the hope that “nothing bad will happen,” and the kind of concern that focuses one’s attention, leads to strategic decision-making, and demonstrates the value of product quality and differentiation in a market flooded with disposable trinkets. In truth, it is competition that sharpens the blade and keeps the world moving forward, and it’s a privilege to be a part of that solution.
Thanks to everyone on the team for the warm welcome, and here’s to many years of ecommerce innovation and success together.
