Amazon announced in a press release this morning that free two-hour delivery from Whole Foods Market will be available to Prime members in Baltimore, Boston, Philadelphia, and Richmond. “Starting today,” the release reads, “Prime members in those cities can shop through Prime Now for bestselling items including fresh produce, high-quality meat and seafood, everyday staples and other locally sourced items from Whole Foods Market.” Free delivery requires a minimum $35 purchase, and customers can upgrade to one-hour delivery for $7.99.
This announcement comes just one day after announcing the expansion of Whole Foods benefits for Prime members to 10 additional states. Amazon and Whole Foods have plans to continue expanding two-hour shipping for Prime members, and will be rolling out nationwide Prime member benefits starting this summer.
According to the Amazon press release, “Select alcohol is also available for delivery to customers in Richmond.” Alcohol delivery seems to work the same as grocery: “Prime members receive two-hour delivery for free and ultrafast delivery within one hour for $7.99 on orders of $35 or more.” Currently, Prime member discounts do not include purchases of alcohol.
