Interview with Swiftwick President Chuck Smith

A shared passion for athletics.

The original Swiftwick socks were conceived and developed by a mountain bike racer seeking a better product for his team. Early product seeding was done around the pits and campfires of a 12-hour mountain bike race.

Since then, Swiftwick has been fortunate to grow their customer base, or “Swiftwick Tribe,” across the country and around the world. All the while, they’ve been there with their customers. They’ve lined up at Dirty Kanza, Kona, and the Barkley Fall Classic, ridden the Whole Enchilada, trekked in Nepal, and ran in their local 5Ks.

Swiftwick’s desire to build the best socks is rooted in their desire to help others, and is in the following three core values:

Swiftwick is made for the outdoors. And, naturally, sunny weather is the best time to be out in nature. We sat down with Chuck Smith, President of Swiftwick, to ask him some questions about the summertime.

What makes summer a great season for Swiftwick?

Every season is a great season for Swiftwick! The long days and warm weather of summer makes it perfect for some of our favorite activities — mountain biking road trips, long backpacking weekends, and early morning runs.

What’s a great Swiftwick product for a hot day?

Our Aspire line is thin, lightweight, and breathable — exactly what you need on a hot day. When it is really sweltering, our Aspire’s Fiber First™ moisture wicking keeps your feet dry and blister free.

Why do you think it’s important to give back to the American Hiking Society?

Our mission is to “Empower life’s adventures.” This is something we strive to achieve not only with our products, but through the organizations we support. The American Hiking Society’s stewardship, outreach, and advocacy in support of America’s great foot trails closely align with our values as an organization.
