Unwrapped Snacks: Takeaways from Expo East

Our team had an excellent, nutrient-dense trip to Baltimore for Expo East last week. They’ve returned with samples a-plenty and are ready to share some notable trends as well as some photos of the expo.

Here are three trends from the show you may see in your cart soon.

Special blend takeover
CBD products literally stole the show with a complete section devoted to the product category. What the team saw this year was less straight CBD, and more products focused on CBD infusions like coffee with CBD and collagen with CBD.

Snacks, snacks, snacks
Protein remains a top trend, as evidenced by how many different snacks offered tasty treats packed with protein to keep hunger at bay for longer. We’re talking meat snacks, big ‘ol cookies, and even toaster waffles that I’m told tasted just like an Eggo from your childhood.

Oatmeal is here to stay
The natural foods staple has evolved with newly reimagined options like bars, wider ranges of flavors, protein options, and even cauliflower quick oats.

“What’s happening with oatmeal is an indicator that brands in the industry aren’t just following trends when they’re hot,” said Sara Goeson, Netrush Partner Development Program Lead. “Brands are continuing to listen to their customers and creating new products based on what they still want, need, and like.”
